History

Redeemer Presbyterian Church, located at 43 Wentworth St. in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, is perfect for Charleston weddings. Nestled in a beautiful, tree-lined neighborhood, this downtown Charleston wedding venue boasts horse-drawn carriages traveling its streets, confederate jasmine’s pungent aroma filling the air, and exquisite wrought-iron gates decorating its portico.

Church History
Built in 1839 as a Methodist church, the Charleston church suffered heavy damage during the Civil War, but was later restored and became St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.  In 2012, the church was revived through the help of historic preservation groups, generous donors and Redeemer’s members, and is now the home of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.  Our recent renovations allow us to better serve others by offering our historic church as a wedding venue.

Weddings at the Church
